Tamar Caravans and Motorhomes are a long-established Plymouth based business, who are proud of their roots.
We started life as ‘Tamar Trailer Centre’ back in 1983 when it was founded by Geoff and Sandra Wray. Based in Sugar Mill Business Park, Plymstock, the company had a reputation for providing a high-quality service and when the time came to sell up and move on, this excellent reputation led Rob and Tim Paige to purchase the business in 2005.
Shortly after Rob and Tim took over the business, they decided to move premises, so we moved to Valley Road, Plympton in early 2006. We continued selling trailer parts as well as servicing and repairing trailers and fitting towbars to customers across the city but were always looking forward and thinking of the next service to add to our repertoire. The opportunity arose in 2011 when caravan servicing was introduced after Simon Graham joined the team and merged his mobile caravan engineering business with us.
In 2015, we moved into new premises at Marshall Road, Plympton, which became home to our indoor caravan showroom, accessory shop and AWS Approved Workshop. This marked an exciting period of growth for Tamar, allowing us to expand our range of caravans, accessories, awnings, parts and towing products.
In 2016, we became Tamar Towing & Caravans as we began selling Swift caravans and became an Approved Swift Dealership. We quickly established ourselves as one of the leading Swift dealers in the South West, going on to win Approved Dealer of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
In 2020, we rebranded as Tamar Caravan Centre and continued to expand our offering, branching out into second-hand Volkswagen campervans alongside our caravan range.
In January 2026, we began the next chapter of Tamar’s story, moving our sales operation and accessories shop to 10 Huxley Close, Plympton. The move gave us a fresh new home and reflected how much the business had grown and evolved since our days at Marshall Road.
In September 2026, our workshop also relocated to its new home at 7 Strode Road, just a two-minute walk from our sales and accessories site at Huxley Close. With our two sites now closer together, customers can easily access vehicle sales, accessories, servicing, repairs and fitting services.
Today, as Tamar Caravans & Motorhomes, we continue to build on more than a decade of growth – helping customers across the South West find, maintain and enjoy their next adventure.
